At Hog Roast Newry, we always feel honoured to play a part in life’s most important celebrations, and the beautiful wedding at Green Holiday Cottages in Kilkeel was no exception. On the 6th of September, Catering Manager Jamie and the team arrived ready to serve a gourmet BBQ feast for 76 guests, bringing with them not just incredible food but the warm, attentive service that makes every event run smoothly.
The couple chose our Gourmet BBQ menu, which proved to be the perfect fit for their relaxed countryside wedding. Guests were treated to hand-made British beef burgers, chef’s own gourmet sausages, Thai chicken kebabs, and meaty marinated spareribs fresh from the grill. Served with fried onions and cheese, plus a selection of fresh bread rolls and wraps (including gluten free), it was a spread that satisfied even the heartiest appetites.
Of course, at Hog Roast Newry we know how important it is that everyone can enjoy the feast, so our homemade vegetarian and vegan options were also a hit. Grilled vegetable skewers with halloumi (or without for vegan guests), complete with wraps and dips, were served alongside our BBQ pulled jackfruit buns steeped in smoky hickory sauce and finished with a crunchy slaw. It’s always rewarding to see guests surprised at just how delicious our plant-based dishes are.
To round off the meal, guests tucked into a choice of fresh salads, including seasonal leaves and our homemade coleslaw, plus a generous mix of chips and sweet potato fries. With sauces, salt, and vinegar on the side, everyone could enjoy their food just the way they liked it. Served buffet-style on eco-friendly wooden crockery, the whole setup fit perfectly with the rustic charm of the venue.
