Last month, the government finally released a document detailing Northern Ireland’s route out of lockdown. But unlike England and Scotland, the Stormont Executive has decided against a clear timetable, citing “data not dates” so as to avoid setting the nation up for disappointment.
Understandably, this decision has led to a lot of confusion and uncertainty among our fellow Irish citizens. And having been approached by countless people who have hopes of enjoying our services this year, Hog Roast Macken is on hand to help clear some things up regarding the lockdown rules.
Thus far, what we do know with absolute certainty is that the country will come under review every four weeks, and presuming the R-number (the reproductive rate of the virus) and, the number of hospital cases remains low, while the number of those vaccinated continues to rise, Northern Ireland will, slowly but surely, gain more freedoms.
It’s important to remember, though, that with nothing set in stone, these relaxations are subject to change. But, for now, this is how NI’s roadmap out of lockdown is looking, according to the update we received on April 19:
Stage 1 – 23rd April
Up to 10 people from a maximum of two separate households can meet outdoors. Meanwhile, up to 6 people from two households can meet in non-domestic indoor locations. Hog Roast Macken can provide a gourmet meal delivery service or a machine rental.
Stage 2 – 30th April
Though gatherings are still limited to 6 people from two households (not counting those under the age of 12) restrictions on hospitality will begin to ease even further. Outdoor eateries can reopen, meaning Hog Roast Macken can begin providing in-person catering in certain scenarios from this point. Our Gourmet Deliveries will continue to be available.
Stage 3 – 24th May (Indicative Date)
Assuming everything runs smoothly up until this point, it is hoped that the 24th of May will see some big changes to Northern Ireland’s lockdown rulings. At the moment, it has been indicated that this date will signal the return of wedding receptions, wakes and other life events, which Hog Roast Macken will be able to handle in person.
